T. D. Ramakrishnan is a noted novelist, short story writer and translator in Malayalam. He was born in 1961 in Thrissur. He started his career as a railway ticket collector in Salem in 1981. He voluntary retired as a chief controller in 2016 to focus on writing. He has close connection with Tamil literature as he spent most of his official life in Tamil Nadu.
Alpha, Francis Itty Cora and Sugandhi Enna Andal Devanayaki are the three novels written by him. Sirajunnisa is his collection of stories. He has also translated into Malayalam the Tamil books ‘Hmm’ by Shobasakthi and ‘Thappu Thalangal’ by Charu Nivedita.
He is the recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Kovilan Memorial Novel Award, K. Surendran Novel Award, A. P. Kalakkad Award, Vayalar Award, Malayattoor Award, E. K. Divakaran Potti Award for Best Translator in 2007 and Nalli-Thisai Ettum Translation Award among others.
