Hailing from Kochi, Sreekumari Ramachandran is a known novelist, story writer, orator, singer and dancer. She is a graduate in economics and a Hindi Visharad. She was married to Adv. C. Ramachandran Menon at a very early age and lived as a homemaker for about 20 years.
She started writing in 1988 and was appointed as B High grade artist in music in All India Radio in 1992. She has been anchoring musical programmes like Sugam Sangeeth and Bhakthi Sangeeth in Thrissur All India Radio and Thiruvananthapuram Doordarshan. She was also a member of Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Akademi from 2002 to 2005.
Nirmalyam, Parithraanam, Thai Veru, Nakshathrangalkk Niramundo, Vidhavakalude Gramam, Pala Veshangalil Chila Manushyar, Silence of the Grove, Kalame Mappu Tharoo, Jalasamadhi and Agniveena are her noted works. She has also penned books based on music Sapthaswarangal and Karnataka Sangeetha Lokam.
She has been awarded with many honours including Rotary Literary Award, Tatapuram Sukumaran Award, Malayala Dinam Award, Samskaara Sahiti Award, Khasak Award and Dr. Suvarna Nalapat Trust Award among others.
