Shyamaprasad is a noted film and documentary director and programme producer in Amrita TV. He was born in 1960 in Palakkad as the youngest son of former union minister and Nemom MLA O. Rajagopal.
He completed graduation in Theatre Arts as one of the first batch of student in School of Drama under University of Calicut. He completed post-graduation in Media Productions at Hull University of UK after receiving a Commonwealth scholarship in 1989.
He worked in the programme wing of Doordarshan and All India Radio. He has also served as a media researcher and creative contributor in British Broadcasting Corporation.
He started his film career by directing the movie ‘Kallu Kondoru Pennu’ in 1998. He also directed Agnisakshi, Akale, Ore Kadal, Rithu, Elektra, Arike, English, Artist, Ivide and Hey Jude. Also he has acted in movies like Drama, Ranam, Anarkali and Loham.
He bagged National Film Award for best feature film for his movies Agnisakshi, Akale and Ore Kadal, Kerala State Film Award for best film for Agnisakshi and Akale and Kerala State Film Award for best director for Agnisakshi, Akale Elektra and Artist.
