Kureepuzha Sreekumar is a noted post-modernist poet in Malayalam. He was born in 1955 in Kollam. Penangunni, Sreekumarinte Dukhangal, Rahulan Urangunnilla, Amma Malayalam, Habeebinte Dinakurippukal, Kureepuzha Sreekumarinte Kavithakal and Keezhalan are some of his noted poetry collections.
He has received many honours including Vyloppilli Award, Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award, Kerala Sahithya Akademi award, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Award for best children’s literature, Bheema Children’s Literature Award, Mahakavi P. Award, Kesari Award, Dr. A. T. Kovoor Award, M. C. Joseph Award and Pavanan Award. Being an atheist, he declined Sree Padmanabhaswamy Award for children’s literature as it was named after a god.
