Kanayi Kunhiraman is a world renowned sculptor. He was born in 1937 in Kasaragod. He learned fine arts from Cholamandal Artists' Village under the training of artist K. C. S. Paniker. Later, he started practicing art under leading artists like Debi Prasad Roy Choudhury.

In 1960, he completed diploma in sculpture with First Class from Madras Fine Arts College. He also finished higher studies from Slade School of Arts in London in 1965. He on Raja Ravi Varma award in 2005.

Some of the wide acclaimed sculptures of Kanayi Kunhiraman include Yakshi at Malampuzha Dam, Sanghu at Veli beach, Mother and Child at Payyambalam, Mukkada Perumal at Kochi, Nandi at Malampuzha, Tamil Woman at Cholamandal, Veena Poovu and Duravastha sculptures at Thonnakkal.

He has also created bronze figures of Sree Narayana Guru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sree Chithira Thirunal, Pattom Thanu Pillai, Mannath Padmanabhan, EMS Namboodirippadu, Rabindranath Tagore and other eminent persons.
