K. V. Mohan Kumar is an IAS officer and writer hailing from Cherthala of Alappuzha. He had worked as a journalist in Kerala Kaumudi and Malayala Manorma dailies.

He has served in many positions including as the collector of Kozhikode and Palakkad districts, the secretary of Kerala State Khadi and Village Industries Board, secretary of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Norka director, Norka Roots CEO and the Director of Public Instruction. He was appointed as the Rural Development Commissioner in 2013.

He has authored many books including Sradhasesham, Hey Rama, Jaranum Poochayum, Ezhamindriyam, Pranayathinte Moonnamkannu, Ushnarashi, Akam Kazhchakal, Knavallayile Kuthirakal, Bhoomiyude Anupatham and Aliveni Enthu Cheyvu are some of his major works. He won Vayalar Award for Ushnarashi in 2018.
