Three beautiful waterfalls cascading down the white cliffs, surrounded by dense forests, provide a refreshing experience for both body and mind at the Thusharagiri Eco Tourism Centre in Kodenchery.

Ticket sales alone have generated about Rs 1,50,000 during this Onam season, says N Vighnesh, Secretary of the Forest Conservation Committee.

The main gate of the eco tourism center is located about 100 meters from the Thusharagiri road. In between, on the left side of the road, facilities for parking and refreshments have been arranged The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) charges Rs 40 for camera entry. Children aged between 5 and 12, as well as students arriving with a school consent form, are charged an entry fee of Rs 20 only. For adults, the fee is Rs 40, and for foreigners, it’s Rs 100. Entry is permitted from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Passing through the entrance gate shaded by trees and vines, visitors are welcomed by a cool atmosphere and a small stream flowing on the right side. The rich waterway during the rainy season and the bathing facilities in the forest stream make this waterfall a favorite spot for any season.

However, access to the second waterfall, Mazhavillachaat, and the Thumbi Thullum Para waterfall, located a kilometre higher, is currently restricted due to the risks associated with the rainy season. Similarly, the seven-kilometre-long Thennipara trekking route will remain closed until November. After passing the Eerattumukku waterfall and hanging bridge, visitors will find an ancient Terminalia (‘Thanni’) tree, over two hundred years old, nearby. The hollow trunk of this tree can accommodate three or four people.
