
Odisha air travel industry is set to receive a major boost in the new year with Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar planning to expand its regional connectivity with new flights by IndiGo and Air India Express starting first week of January 2025.
Indigo will begin flights to Indore four days a week and Dehradun thrice a week from January 1 Air India Express will commence new flights to Lucknow and Jaipur thrice a week. Air India Express will also commence daily flights to Cochin from January 3.
The Indigo flights to Indore and Dehradun will depart from Bhubaneswar at 3:00 PM.
Additionally, Air India Express will introduce three weekly flights from Bhubaneswar to Lucknow and Jaipur, starting January 3, 2025, along with daily flights to Cochin. The airline also plans to launch a new route to Bengaluru from January 4, 2025. These flights will leave BPIA at 6:15 am and arrive at 12:20 midnight.
Air India Express commenced daily direct flights between Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar on August 1, 2024. Air India Express already connects Bhubaneshwar with seven destinations namely Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The airline also offers 26 one-stop itineraries connecting Bhubaneswar to destinations including Amritsar, Abu Dhabi, Ayodhya, Dammam, Goa, Imphal, Kochi, Kuwait, Pune and Singapore, among others. With the addition of new destinations from Odisha, the airline has significantly enhanced its Odisha air connectivity.
These new upcoming flight services from Bhubaneswar Airport will provide travellers with convenient access to the cities of Indore, Dehradun, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Kochi. The launch of new flights from Odisha is on the backdrop of its recently approved New Destination Policy that has incentivized airlines to expand their operations at both Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports.
