Idukki: Munnar is experiencing an unusual chill as the temperature in the region drops to its lowest this season. On Tuesday, Chenduvarai Estate Lower Division recorded a freezing zero degrees Celsius, marking a massive dip. Although temperatures had previously hovered around seven degrees Celsius, they plummeted overnight, leading to snowfall on meadows in several areas.
With the intense cold, many tourists visiting Munnar for Christmas were eager to experience the winter weather. Early risers from local resorts ventured to places like Chenduvara and Kannimala to enjoy the snowfall and low temperatures. Popular spots like Munnar Town, Devikulam, ODK (Old Devikualm), Silent Valley, and Lakshmi Estate recorded temperatures as low as two degrees Celsius.
As the weather remains clear, the temperature is expected to dip further, potentially dropping below zero in the coming days. The holiday season has brought an influx of tourists to Munnar, making it a prime destination for winter travel.
