Munnar, Kerala: Munnar is experiencing extreme cold for the second consecutive day. On Tuesday morning, temperatures in Mattupetty and Chenduvara were recorded at one degree Celsius, resulting in widespread snowfall across the area's meadows.

The mercury dropped to two degrees Celsius in Munnar town, Lakshmi Estate, and Devikulam, while Silent Valley recorded a temperature of three degrees Celsius. The region is enduring extreme cold during the early mornings and evenings, with temperatures rising to 25 degrees Celsius during midday.

On Monday morning, temperatures in Mattupetty, Chenduvara, and Lakshmi Estate had fallen to zero degrees Celsius, with these areas historically known for the coldest temperatures. It marked the first time in three weeks that the temperature had dipped to freezing point. Weather forecasts suggest further temperature drops in the coming days.

Tourists, including many foreigners, are flocking to Munnar to experience the weather, with the meadows being blanketed by snow in the mornings, creating a picturesque winter landscape. Despite the intense cold at night, daytime temperatures remain relatively mild.

The region's cool weather is expected to persist, drawing more visitors to Munnar and surrounding areas in the coming days.
