Timex has added two new models to its mechanical Waterbury Heritage collection, and both keep things refreshingly simple. Each has an automatic movement, a day-date display and an enamel dial.

The TW2Y94100 has a deep-blue enamel dial and a fully silver-tone finish. The TW2Y94200 pairs a glossy black enamel dial with gold-tone details, for a two-tone look that recalls a Rolex.

Both watches are 39mm across, a size that suits a modern watch sitting between sporty and dressy. The stainless-steel cases combine brushed and polished finishing. A double-domed K1 mineral crystal with an antireflective coating covers the dial.

The dial does most of the work. Timex has kept it uncluttered, with a clean minute track, faceted luminous hour and minute hands, and a slender second hand. The day-date window sits at three o'clock and the Waterbury branding is beneath 12.

The black model adds gold-tone hands, hour markers, crown and bezel detailing, and center links on the bracelet. The blue version is more restrained and uses silver-tone details throughout.

Inside is a Miyota 8205 automatic movement with 21 jewels and up to 42 hours of power reserve. Its accuracy rating is -20/+40 seconds per day. An exhibition case back lets you see the movement at work.

Both watches come on stainless-steel bracelets with self-adjustable links, quick-release spring bars and a butterfly clasp. Water resistance is 50 meters, so they are not built for scuba diving, but everyday splashes and handwashing are no problem.

The Waterbury Heritage Automatic is available now. The blue model costs approx. ₹43,300 and the two-tone black version costs approx. ₹45,300.
