The 18K rose gold timepiece features temple engravings, a skeleton dial and a hand-wound Swiss movement.

When Ranbir Kapoor makes an appearance for ‘Ramayana’, there is naturally plenty to look at. But at a recent promotional event in Bengaluru, the actor had a rather expensive detail on his wrist that deserves its own moment. Kapoor was spotted wearing a Jacob & Co. watch worth a whopping ₹78 lakh, and this is not your everyday luxury timepiece.
Meet the Jacob & Co. Epic X Ram Janmabhoomi Rose Gold Edition, a watch that brings together high-end Swiss watchmaking and Indian cultural symbolism. With an 18K rose gold case, a striking orange strap and intricate engravings inspired by the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, it is the kind of accessory that does more than simply tell the time.
There is also an interesting connection here. Kapoor is gearing up for ‘Ramayana’, in which he plays Lord Rama, while the watch itself was created to commemorate the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. That makes the choice particularly noteworthy at an event centred on the epic.
A ₹78 Lakh Watch That Is Anything But Understated
First things first, the price. At ₹78,00,000, this Jacob & Co. timepiece sits firmly in the world of ultra-luxury watches. And it certainly does not rely on a discreet design to make its presence felt.
Part of Jacob & Co.'s Epic X collection, the watch features a 44mm case crafted from 18K rose gold. The warm, rich finish is paired with a bright orange rubber strap, giving the watch a mix of classic luxury and contemporary edge. It is bold without being a conventional gold watch, and the colour combination makes it stand out even more.
The Epic X collection, introduced in 2015, is known for its distinctive X-shaped lugs and striking architecture. This particular edition takes that signature design and gives it a story rooted in Indian heritage.
Look Closer: The Ram Mandir Details on the Dial
The real talking point, however, is the dial. Instead of a traditional watch face, the timepiece features a skeletonised design that leaves its mechanical workings exposed. Look closer, and there are intricate relief engravings depicting the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, along with inscriptions and representations associated with Hindu deities across the dial and bezel.
The result is a watch that combines technical detail with cultural references. The temple-inspired elements are integrated into the design rather than simply added as decoration, giving this edition a distinct identity within the Epic X collection.
The watch was created in collaboration with Indian luxury watch retailer Ethos Watches to commemorate the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. It is an unusual meeting of luxury watchmaking and religious symbolism, making it stand apart from the diamond-studded or minimalist timepieces often spotted on celebrity wrists.
What Makes This Jacob & Co. Watch So Special?
There is plenty happening beneath the dial, too. The watch is powered by the JCAM02 hand-wound skeleton calibre, produced for Jacob & Co. by Swiss movement specialist Concepto.
The movement comprises 158 components, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 48 hours. In simpler terms, it is not just an elaborate exterior doing all the work. There is serious mechanical engineering behind the design.
One of its distinctive features is the arrangement of the barrel at 12 o'clock and the balance wheel at 6 o'clock. The movement can also be viewed through sapphire crystals on both the front and back, allowing its intricate construction to remain part of the watch's visual appeal.
And because it is hand-wound, the wearer needs to wind it manually to keep it running. For watch collectors, that traditional interaction is part of the charm of owning a mechanical timepiece.
More Than Just Another Celebrity Watch?
Celebrity watches often make headlines for their price tags, but this one has a little more going on than its ₹78 lakh valuation. Between the rose gold case, exposed movement and Ram Janmabhoomi temple engravings, the watch combines luxury craftsmanship with a very specific cultural reference.
For Kapoor, its appearance at a ‘Ramayana’ promotional event makes the connection even more interesting. The actor's film and the watch both draw from the world of Indian mythology, albeit in very different ways.

Whether you are a watch collector, a luxury-fashion follower or simply curious about what celebrities wear, this Jacob & Co. creation offers plenty to look at. At ₹78 lakh, it is certainly not an everyday accessory. But with its striking orange strap, rose gold finish and temple-inspired dial, it is also far from an ordinary watch.
