In today’s competitive corporate world, many young professionals chase high-paying jobs, only to face long hours, stress, and little personal fulfilment. Cassidy O’Hagan, 28, found a surprising alternative, a career that combines luxury, adventure and financial rewards.

O’Hagan spends winters in Aspen, summers in the Hamptons, and travels to exotic destinations like Puerto Rico, Maldives, India, and Dubai aboard her employer’s private jet. Her title may simply be “nanny,” but her lifestyle rivals that of celebrities and top-tier influencers. According to Business Insider, O’Hagan enjoys benefits like a 401(k) plan, full healthcare coverage, paid vacation, meals from a private chef, and even her own curated “nanny wardrobe.”

Her surprising entry into the billionaire world

O’Hagan’s journey began in 2019, at age 22, while preparing for the MCAT. Looking for temporary work, she took a role caring for children in a high-net-worth family.

Despite the appeal, she initially pursued a corporate career, landing a medical sales position in New York City by 2021 with an annual salary of $65,000 (approximately ₹60 lakh). However, long hours and workplace stress led to burnout. Within a year, she returned to nannying, this time with full commitment.

Doubling her salary while travelling the world

The decision proved transformative. Bound by a non-disclosure agreement, O’Hagan did not reveal her exact salary but confirmed it ranges between $150,000 and $250,000 (over ₹1.3 crore) more than double her corporate earnings. Beyond financial gains, she enjoys flexibility, adventure, and a work-life balance impossible in a traditional 9-to-5 role.

O’Hagan’s story reflects a larger trend. The number of billionaires worldwide has surged from 322 in 2000 to over 3,000 today. Meanwhile, those with $1–$5 million in assets, “everyday millionaires”, have quadrupled to 52 million, according to UBS. This wealth boom has fueled demand for specialised staff managing private homes, jets, and yachts, creating unconventional yet lucrative career paths for young professionals.
