The video shows momos cooked in a sweet and creamy litchi-based gravy, a fusion deemed bizarre by many viewers

Just when you think you’ve seen it all in the world of street food experiments, bubblegum biriyani, Fanta maggi and gajar halwa dosas, the internet delivers something new, and this time, it’s pushing the limits a little too far.
A recent viral video has left momo lovers across the country baffled (and slightly disturbed). The dish in question? Litchi Gravy Momos.
Shared by the Instagram page @bhukkad_bagh, the video is filmed at Babbu Momos in B Block, Vivek Vihar, Delhi, and has already racked up nearly 3.5 million views.
But views don’t necessarily mean approval, especially when it involves dunking crispy momos in a sweet, fruity litchi sauce.
What’s in this ‘gravy’?
The video shows the vendor whipping up a base with usual ingredients like onion, garlic, tomato, and spices. But then, things take a wild turn. Instead of finishing off with a spicy or tangy kick, he adds a generous pour of litchi juice, followed by cream, mayonnaise, and even litchi chunks. Finally, fried momos are tossed into the sweet gravy, making for a combo that no one asked for.
Reactions: From disbelief to outrage
As you might expect, momo purists were not happy. Comments flooded in almost instantly, with many users expressing complete disbelief. “Why would anyone do this to momos?” one person asked.
Another joked, “Paap lagega, Garud Puran mai alag sajha hai iske liye.”(It will be a sin, there is a separate section for this in Garuda Purana)
A third viewer summed up the general sentiment with a simple “Aakhir kyu?” (But Why) accompanied by a crying emoji.
Another asked, “Kya majboori thi bhai aapki?” reflecting the confusion felt by many.
And then there was the user who took it up a notch: “Supreme Court ye sab nahi dekh rahi hai kya? Suo moto cognizance lijiye please.”(Ain’t the Supreme Court not looking into all this? Please take suo motu cognizance)
Others begged for an end to such "deadly experiments", with one writing, “Please stop this deadly experiment with momos. It hurts my eyes, tongue, soul — everything.”
While some brave foodies might be tempted to try it for the novelty factor, the general mood online is loud and clear: “Leave momos alone!”
