Blackheads are the small spots that usually appear on the nose, chin and forehead. People often try to remove them by scrubbing, peeling, or squeezing them out. However, they eventually come back. But there is a very simple method to control them. For this, you don’t need expensive pore vacuums, costly clay masks, or complicated routines.

All you need is a towel.

Blackheads form when tiny pores on the skin get clogged with extra oil, dead skin, and dirt. These clogged pores come into contact with air, which causes the top to darken and appear as black spots.

Here is an easy technique to get rid of it:

Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser. This removes makeup, sunscreen, and surface impurities. Then, take a clean, soft face towel and soak it in warm water. The water should be hot enough to produce steam but not so hot that it burns the skin. After squeezing out the excess water, press the towel gently onto your face for 1–2 minutes. For a more spa-like experience, you may add a drop of tea tree oil or lavender oil to the water before soaking the towel.

Once your skin feels warm and softened, use the damp part of the towel to gently rub in a circular motion in the areas where the blackheads are seen. Do not overdo it; light pressure is enough. The texture of the towel works as a mild exfoliator, helping to remove blackheads and dead skin cells without damaging the skin. After that, rinse your face with cold water to help close the pores and maintain smoothness. To keep the skin hydrated and balanced, apply a lightweight moisturiser.

Steaming is a simple yet effective way to loosen and clear blackheads. Warm steam opens up the pores, softens the blockages caused by dirt and dead skin, and makes them easier to remove. It also improves blood circulation, gives the skin a healthy glow, and helps wounds heal faster. This method can reduce irritation and prevent marks or scars. For best results, it is often combined with mild exfoliation or a clay mask to fully draw out impurities. Doing this two or three times a week is ideal. Overdoing it, however, can strip away natural oils, leading to excess sebum production, which may cause more blackheads. This is one of the simple yet effective methods. Those who are feeling lazy about skincare can consider this as the best option.
