Kozhikode: KSRTC has decided to launch special budget tourist services for women passengers, in view of the upcoming Women's Day on March 8. The corporation will commemorate ‘Women’s travel week’ from March 6 to 12 by rolling out 100 special trips from all districts here.

The women passengers can pre book the trips individually or in groups. A whole bus can be booked by a group if it comprises a definite number of passengers.

Each depot can organise trips under a unique title. Kozhikode depot has named its women’s day special services as ‘Penkoottu’.

KSRTC currently has 700 services under the budget tourism initiative in the state. Women passengers and groups will get the priority to book all the budget tourist services of KSRTC during the women’s travel week.

Though KSRTC planned to launch 50 special services for women passengers for the women’s day last year, the number of trips doubled on account of the rush for booking. Most of the bookings were made from northern districts in the state.

A ticket fare varying from Rs 600 to Rs 700 will be charged for the one day services, including food. The corporation has mulled trips for the women inhabitants of shelter homes in the state. The people who are interested in sponsoring such trips can contact the management.
