
Thiruvananthapuram: The foreign tourists stranded in Kerala due to the lockdown imposed are safe. The facilities for their return have been arranged by Kerala tourism department. They can return to their native countries, once permission from their authorities there are obtained.
Arrangements were made to fly back Russian tourists stranded here the other day from Thiruvananthapuram airport. However, they couldn’t return as the airports in Russia remain closed.
Earlier, 564 foreign tourists including Russians, French and German were flown back from Kerala. There were 5150 foreign tourists in Kerala when the state reported second outbreak of coronavirus. Around 800 were stranded here after lockdown was imposed.
They are staying here on their own expenses. All the foreign tourists in Kerala were under observation. Four are under treatment.
Those who completed isolation period have been given permission to return by the authorities.
