Apple has announced the rollout of Apple Intelligence, its personal intelligence system, starting next month with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

What is Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence is designed to run entirely on-device, with Private Cloud Compute offering the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers. This approach ensures that users' data remains private and secure.

The systemwide Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence will allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across various apps. In Photos, the Memories feature has been enhanced to enable users to create personalized movies by simply typing a description. Users can also search for specific photos using natural language and find specific moments in videos.

Additionally, the new Clean Up tool in Photos can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo without altering the subject. In the Notes and Phone apps, users can record, transcribe, and summarize audio, with the ability to generate a summary of key points after a call.

Apple Intelligence A Free Update

Apple Intelligence is designed to work seamlessly across devices, including the new iPhone 16 lineup, which is built from the ground up to take advantage of the system's capabilities.

The system will be available as a free software update and will initially launch in beta with a limited set of features.

The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available on a range of devices, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later.

Apple Intelligence Language Support

The system will initially launch in US English, with localized English support coming to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK in December. Additional language support, including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, will be added next year.

Redesigned Siri

Siri has also been redesigned to be more natural, flexible, and deeply integrated into the system experience. It features a brand-new design with an elegant glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active on iPhone, iPad, or CarPlay.
