
Veteran IPS officer and Director General of Prisons Rishiraj Singh’s book ‘Vaikum Mumbe’ was released by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday. He handed over the first copy of the book to chief secretary Dr Vishwas Mehta. The book was published by Mathrubhumi Books. The book was penned with an intention to protect children from drug abuse and divert their attention to studies and social commitment.
The chief minister said during the book release that the writer succeeded in implementing the target of stopping drug abuse among youngsters in Kerala. The book was written abiding to service rules and is a contribution to Malayalam language by a Rajasthani native IPS officer, the CM added.
Being a guideline for anti-drug campaigns, this book need to be translated into other languages. ‘Vaikum Mumbe’ was penned after visiting over thousand schools and colleges in Kerala and interacting with the students. Mathrubhumi Books also deserves appreciation for taking initiative to publish the book, the chief minister said.
Mathrubhumi Managing Director M V Shreyams Kumar MP who presided over the event said that being a father of four children, the book is very relevant for him. Mathrubhumi Chief of News Unni Balakrishnan, MLA V S Sivakumar, Chief Secretary Dr Vishwas Mehta, newly appointed chief secretary V P Joy, DGP Loknath Behera also attended the event.
