Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam translation of the novel ‘Gun Island’ penned by Jnanpith laureate writer Amitav Ghosh was released. Titled ‘Thokku Dweep’, the book was released on Friday at an event in connection with the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) 2021 by writer and festival patron MP Shashi Tharoor.
The book release ceremony was held live on Mathrubhumi Facebook and YouTube pages. Shashi Tharoor, Amitav Ghosh, MBIFL director Sabin Iqbal, translator K T Radhakrishnan and others spoke at the event.
‘Gun Island’ by Amitav Ghosh talks about the increasing rate of human migration and the consequences of climate change and other issues. The international media ‘The Sunday Times’ had named the novel as the Da Vinci Code of Bengali.
