Thiruvananthapuram: The State Library Council has announced various awards. Poet Ezhacherry Ramachandran will be presented I V Das Award of the State Library Council for overall contribution. The award comprises a purse of Rs 50,000.
T P Velayudhan was selected for the P N Panicker Award for the best librarian in the state. The award includes a purse of Rs 25,000 and a felicitation letter. He has been working as the secretary of Palissery SNDP Library since 1971. Currently, he is a member of the State Library Council.
The EMS Award for the best library that is over 50 years old in the state will be presented to Payam Gramin Library in Kannur district. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The DC Award for best library in rural area will be given to Paravoor Public Library in Alappuzha.
Souparnika Public Library in Kozhikode district will receive Samadhanam Parameswaran Award for the socio-cultural activities. The awards will be handed over at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in April, said State Library Council president Dr K V Kunhikrishnan, secretary P Appukuttan and Keezhattoor Aniyan.
