
Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran cartoonist Yesudasan has been selected for 2019's Swadeshabhiman-Kesari award.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Yesudasan was selected for the award considering his valuable contributions to the cartoon and media sector. CM added that Yesudasan is the most notable person in the political cartoon sector in Kerala.
Swadeshabhiman-Kesari award is the highest honour for media persons given by the government. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a sculpture designed by Kanayi Kunjiraman.
Yesudasan has been drawing cartoon for over 6 decades and has worked as cartoonist in Malayala Manorama daily for over 2 decades. He is the founding chairman of Kerala Cartoon Academy and former president of Kerala Lalithakala Academy.
