Kozhikode: Veteran novelist Sarah Joseph has been selected for this year’s Ashitha Memorial Award. The award comprises a cash price of Rs 25,000 and a citation. 

Renowned writer Kalpetta Narayanan will present the award at 5 pm at Alakapuri auditorium, Kozhikode. The jury included writers Rosemary, Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu, Santhosh Aechikkanam and B Murali. 

Other awards are bagged by Soumya Chandrasekharan (short story), Surendran Sreemoolanagaram (children's literature), Shyam Tharamel (poetry), Remani Venugopal (novel) and Theresa Tom (memoir). Ashitha Memorial Balashree Award will be awarded to Austin Ajith and special jury award will be given to Suja Gopalan (poetry).
