Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi-110011 has invited applications for Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies for the year 2024. 

Eighteen scholarships (UR-6/SC-3/ST-1/OBC-5/EWS-2/PwD-1) will be offered to Indian Nationals and two scholarships to Nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D. studies in India.

Duration of Scholarship will be up to 2 years from 1 April 2025. Those selected will get a maintenance allowance including Tuition fee (Stipend) of Rs. 18,000/- per month and contingent expenses of Rs. 15,000/-per annum to meet expenses for study tours within India, purchase of books, stationery etc. 

One may apply for scholarship in any one of the following areas of specialization: Indian History & Civilization, Sociology, Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture, Ecology & Environment and Economics. 

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a first Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in both graduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants should be already registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India. Applicants must be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar. 

Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit: Applicants should not be above 35 years of age on 1st October 2024. A relaxation of up to 5 years will be provided to those belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants. A relaxation of up to 5 years will be provided to the candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in armed forces up to 1st October 2024. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

The selected candidates as long as they remain recipients of the Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarship cannot receive any other grant/fellowship/scholarship from any other source.

An amount of Rs.100/- is to be paid by Postal Order/Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund’ payable at New Delhi and should be sent along with the completed application form.

Duly filled in forms should reach ‘Administrative Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi-110 011’, latest by 31 August 2024.
