New Delhi: The UGC NET June 2026 results are out, but candidates who have qualified may still have to wait before receiving their official eligibility certificates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results on Friday for 84 of the 87 subjects covered under the June examination cycle. The remaining three subjects are yet to be completed, with the re-examination scheduled for September 9 and 10.

The results currently available cover candidates who appeared for the examinations conducted between June 22 and 30, followed by a re-test on July 5.

Among those whose results have been declared, 4,241 candidates have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor eligibility. A further 45,904 candidates have qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility and admission to PhD programmes, while 97,434 candidates have qualified for PhD admission only.

Why certificates may take longer

Unlike the scorecard, which becomes available soon after the results are announced, the UGC NET eligibility certificate is issued separately by the NTA.

There is also an additional factor in the June 2026 cycle: the examination process is not yet fully complete. The NTA is scheduled to conduct examinations for the remaining three subjects in September.

The agency has not announced a specific date for issuing the June 2026 certificates. However, the previous cycle offers an indication of the possible timeline. The results of that examination were announced on February 4, while certificates were made available in April.

Candidates who have already qualified can therefore expect the certificate to be released separately rather than along with the scorecard.

What will the UGC NET certificate confirm?

Depending on the candidate's result, the NTA will issue certificates corresponding to four categories:

  • JRF only

  • JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor

  • Eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD

  • Eligibility for PhD admission only

Candidates will be able to download their certificates once the NTA activates the relevant facility on its website.

What should candidates do now?

Candidates who have qualified should retain their UGC NET scorecard and regularly check the NTA's official website for updates on the e-certificate.

UGC NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to determine eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor appointments and admission to PhD programmes.
