Thiruvananthapuram: The decision of the administrative tribunal regarding the appointment of college principals is expected to be decisive in the Kerala government's further course of action. The tribunal is yet to issue a final decision on the petition filed by seven persons from the 43-member list approved by the first selection committee, who approached the court due to the appointment delay.

The government has filed a review petition against the court order. It sought permission to appoint 33 persons approved by the second government committee, in addition to the 43 persons appointed from the initial phase. However, the tribunal's final verdict is still pending, as it has ordered to make UGC a party in the case.

The government is currently awaiting decision on the review petition filed on July 7. Depending on the outcome of the tribunal's final decision, the government will determine its course of action regarding the appointment of principals amid the ongoing controversy.

One of the government's plans is to address the issue by considering candidates who were initially excluded. The government is seeking legal advice on making the appointment based on the tribunal's observations. Another concern is the priority of the teachers who applied. The government has decided to ensure a fair appointment method in the wake of recent controversies.

In a separate case, the tribunal ordered the appointment of 43 persons from the first list on July 24 and suggested a new recruitment process for others.
