Malappuram: The lack of seats for students seeking admission in Plus One is a serious problem in Malabar.
In a press conference held here, SFI National President V P Sanu stated that if this issue is not addressed, the SFI will proceed with protests. He also asked the government to introduce new batches in government and aided schools to accommodate the demand.
Education minister V Sivankutty, on the other hand, claims that there is no shortage of seats and there is no crisis in the higher education sector in the state. However, SFI rejects the minister’s statement. Sanu pointed out that many students are yet to receive seats and this will be the same even after supplementary allotment. The seriousness of the matter was conveyed to the education minister, he added.
Admission can be done through batch allocation even after the commencement of classes. Sanu said that having 65 students in a class is not right and that the number be reduced to 50.
