Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has announced the results of the first round allocation of seats for admission to the academic programs offered by the IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs for the academic year 2023-24.
Allocations are based on the ranks of JEE Main and JEE Advanced for 2023.
Those allotted seats in Round 1 have to complete Online reporting which includes fee payment / document upload / response by candidate to query (if required) latest by 5 pm on July 04, 2023.
A candidate who has been allocated a seat needs to download the ‘Initial Seat Allotment Intimation Slip’ which has information regarding the Seat Allotment and steps to be followed for seat confirmation by the candidate.
Candidate must upload all the required documents online, as per Annexure 3 of the JOSAA Business Rules available at https://josaa.nic.in/
The candidate needs to accept the seat allocated and opt for any one of the options ‘Freeze’, ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ for the choice of academic program for subsequent round(s), if any, of joint seat allocation, details of which are given in the JoSAA Business Rules.
A candidate accepting the offered seat and is content with the allocated academic program and does not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation while retaining the same seat should choose the ‘Freeze’ option.
A candidate who accepts the offered seat and indicates that, if admission to an academic program of higher preference is offered within the same Institute in subsequent rounds of seat allocation, he/she should choose the ‘Slide’ option.
A candidate who accepts the offered seat and wants to be considered for admission to an academic program of higher preference in any Institute in subsequent rounds of seat allocation, should choose the ‘Float’ option.
Those allotted seats have to pay the Seat Acceptance fee which is Rs. 20,000/- for SC, ST, PwD candidates and Rs. 40,000/- for all other candidates. This includes JoSAA processing charges of Rs. 4,000. The seat acceptance fee excluding JoSAA processing charges of Rs. 4,000/- will be adjusted against the admission fee. Seat acceptance fee can be remitted using Debit card / UPI / Credit card / Net Banking / E-Challan.
At the time of document verification, if the document verification officer raises any query, the candidate must respond in online mode through candidate portal within the stipulated time. It is the responsibility of the candidate to check the online portal at regular intervals of time and respond to queries if any, without fail within the stipulated time. Failure to respond to the query/queries on time will lead to cancellation of the allotted seat and the candidate will no longer be able to participate in the JoSAA 2023 process. The time limit to respond to queries based on Round 1 is 5 pm on July 5, 2023.
If all the documents are found to be valid and the eligibility criteria are met by the candidate, a ‘Provisional Seat Allotment letter’ will be available for download on the online portal.
Round 2 Seat Allocation will be announced at 5 pm on July 06, 2023.
