Plus one supplementary allotment: 10,600 seats surplus in merit category; 70k overall

Haripad: Surplus of 10,600 merit seats available after the first supplementary allotment for plus one admission in Kerala. The state currently has an excess of 70,307 plus one seat, including management quota and unaided categories. 

Initially, there were concerns raised during the first phase of admissions that deserving candidates were not securing seats. However, as usual, many seats became vacant by the time of the supplementary allotment.

In addition to the 10,600 merit seats, there are 17,788 seats under the management quota and 41,919 seats in the unaided category. While districts like Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Wayanad have a limited number of vacant merit seats, if other categories are taken into consideration, these districts also have a surplus of seats compared to the number of applicants.

A total of 67,596 students applied for the first supplementary allotment, out of which 35,163 have received seat allotments. Candidates who have not been allotted a seat thus far will have an opportunity in the subsequent allotments. Further details regarding the subsequent allotments will be published on the website on July 18.

Based on the first supplementary allotment, students can secure their admissions in schools until 4 pm on Friday.

The total number of vacant seats currently stands at 70,307.
