C.R.Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, University of Hyderabad Campus, Prof. CR Rao Road, Gachibowli, has invited entries for the National Statistics Olympiad to be conducted from 10 am to 12 noon on 26th October 2025.

This is the 15th edition of Statistics Olympiad, India’s Ultimate Numbers Challenge for Young Minds.

The primary objective of this endeavour is to emphasize the vital role of statistics and nurture a new generation of statisticians to contribute to the nation's advancement. The test is designed as a talent-based competition that emphasizes insightful thinking, logical reasoning, and creative problem solving rather than rote memorization or adherence to a specific syllabus. While no prior knowledge of a fixed curriculum is required, the questions aim to assess general mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills, and the ability to apply knowledge effectively in unfamiliar contexts.

To support preparation, an outline of key topics has been provided as a helpful guide. It includes Basic Set Theory, Basic Algebra, Basic Descriptive Statistics, Problem Solving, Data Representation, Data Handling, Counting Techniques, Elementary Probability Theory, Functions and Distances, Permutations and Combinations, Elementary Geometry, Elementary Number Theory and Basics of Statistics.

Examination will be held online and will have Objective type questions.

Eligibility Criteria: Students of Class VIII, IX, X can participate in the Junior Level category and students of Class XI, XII, UG (First Year), in the Senior Level category.

Cash Prizes (for Senior & Junior): A total of 5 prizes will be awarded in each category. 1st Prize – Rs. 50,000/-; 2nd Prize – Rs. 25,000/-; 3rd Prize – Rs. 15,000/; 4th Prize – Rs. 10,000/-; 5th Prize- Rs. 5,000/-. Merit certificates will be awarded for top 25 ranks at each level.

Participation certificates will be given for all participants.
