Kochi: The Lakshadweep administration has banned all sorts of protests in the educational institutes on the island. The education director Rakesh Dahiya also has ordered to dismiss students above 14 years of age from the institute if they violate the order.

The ban order has cited sentences from the high court verdicts.

Students of the island had recently protested against lack of sufficient infrastructure and teachers in the institutes. Police had used force on them to disperse crowds at some places. The latest order comes in the backdrop of this.

The order carries a statement from a high court verdict of 2020 saying the protestors do not have the right to obstruct the learning of other students who do not wish to be part of the protests.

The heads of the educational institutions are asked to paste the order on the notice board.
