Thiruvananthapuram: Khader Committee, set up for revamping the school education in Kerala, submitted its second report. It recommended the state to reschedule the school timings from 8 AM to 1 PM.
Morning is the best time for learning activities while evening can be used for physical activities, the report said.

It also suggested making a 5-year integrated course mandatory for teaching aspirants. At present LP school teachers require a two-year TTC course (basic qualification: Plus Two) and others need two-year BEd (basic qualification: UG degree).
K TET/SET are additional requirements. PG degree is required for teaching in high school and higher secondary. The new recommendation, if accepted, would end the TTC and B Ed courses and initiate a UG plus B Ed integrated course.
Khader committee, formed in 2017, submitted its first report in 2019. The government has started to implement the suggestions. From next academic year onwards, the high school will be merged with higher secondary, which is an outcome of the first report of the Khader committee.
