Thiruvananthapuram: In the class 1 ‘Kerala Padavali’ textbooks for the new academic year, additional pages have been allocated for ‘Malayalam Aksharamala’ (list of alphabets) and for a brief introduction to the constitution of India.

Classes 1,3,5,7 and 9 will have new revised textbooks. All the books have already reached the schools.

10 lakh students in various government schools will receive free uniforms. Meanwhile, those studying in aided schools will receive Rs 600 as uniform allowance.

Meanwhile, as per the high court ruling, there will be 220 working days for schools in the new academic year. Several teachers’ organisations are apparently against this, but have no other option but to oblige to the decision of the court. Hence, the schools will have to remain open on several Saturdays as well.
