Kondotty: In a shocking development, the questions and answers of Onam exams for the Kerala State syllabus schools are being circulated through YouTube channels a day before the scheduled commencement. The questions and answers of Class 5th to 10th exams are coming in the YouTube channels of some tuition centers from last evening, making a mockery of the examination system itself.

The question papers are prepared by the Department of General Education for the exams from Classes 1 to 10. It is delivered to schools through BRC (block resource centre). Question papers are dispatched to schools in phases starting a day or two before the exam.

The question paper is the responsibility of the head teachers. Opening the bundle of the question paper is allowed only one or two hours before the commencement of the examination. Suspicion has been raised that leaking of the question papers has occurred earlier in many places.

Questions and answers are presented on YouTube channels in the form of questions that are likely to be asked this time, based on previous question papers. The same questions found on the next day’s exam paper are raising doubts.

Two and a half lakh people have seen a video on a channel related to the Class 10 Social Science question paper. More than 4 lakh children are in Class 10 this academic year. In the past, question and answer hints were given on YouTube channels on a small scale before the exam. This time questions and answers for 40 marks have also been given.

The Department of General Education does a lot of preparation and work to conduct the examination in schools. Tuition centers on the other hand, are making a mockery of all this through YouTube channels. There is also a concern that the loss of confidence of teachers and students not taking exams seriously will lead to the collapse of the general education sector in the state.
