Kozhikode: In a strategic move to build future-ready leadership and enhance management capabilities within India’s critical defence industry, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) and Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) have entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to develop customised leadership and management programmes tailored specifically for BEL executives, reinforcing the organisation’s vision for sustained growth and innovation.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. N. Vikraman, Director (HR) of BEL, and Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, alongside senior officials from both organisations. This partnership marks a milestone in the long-standing relationship between IIM Kozhikode and BEL and reflects their shared commitment to nurturing leadership excellence within one of India’s premier Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Under the agreement, IIM Kozhikode will customise and deliver a series of Professional Post Graduate Diploma (PPGD) programmes aimed at equipping BEL’s management cadre with cutting-edge knowledge in areas such as Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, and General Management. These programmes will be customised to meet BEL’s evolving needs, ensuring executives gain strategic insights and domain expertise essential to navigating the complexities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Chatterjee highlighted the transformative potential of the collaboration.

"The signing of this MoU marks a phenomenal milestone in our long-standing partnership with BEL. The Professional Post Graduate Diploma Programme series has been carefully curated in collaboration with BEL to help their professionals grow into mindful, resilient, and visionary leaders who can steer the organisation through the challenges of a rapidly evolving business and defence landscape.”

BEL, a Navaratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, operates nine manufacturing units across India and is a key player in producing advanced electronic systems for the Indian Armed Forces. By investing in leadership development through this MoU, BEL aims to strengthen its talent pool and enhance organisational agility amid a dynamic and competitive environment.

Established in 1996 as the fifth IIM in India, IIM Kozhikode has a rich legacy of academic excellence and leadership development, making it an ideal partner for BEL’s ambitious growth plans.
