The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Kottayam has invited applications for admission to the e-M.Tech. programme, a flexible, self-paced postgraduate programme comprising 60 credits, to be completed over a duration of 2 to 4 years.

The programme allows students the flexibility to spread out their coursework across multiple semesters within the 2–4-year period, depending on their pace. However, the project component can be undertaken only after the completion of the required coursework. The total number of credits completed under the e-M.Tech. programme is equivalent to that of the full-time M.Tech. programme, ensuring parity in academic rigor and learning outcomes

IIITK offers two programmes: (i) e-M.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science (ii) e-M.Tech. in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics.

The thesis (project work) in the final two semesters enables students to apply concepts and techniques learned during the programme. A course break is possible by keeping the enrollment active. The programme uses a Continuous Evaluation System that assesses the learners over convenient and regular intervals.

Course Mode: Online classes will be on Friday evenings and weekends. The classes, virtual lab sessions, and mid-semester exam shall be conducted in online mode. The end-semester exam, as well as the final project review, shall be conducted in offline mode. The offline exam centres will be the off-campus centre in Trivandrum, the main campus in Kottayam, and other centres such as Cochin or Bangalore, subject to the availability of sufficient candidates and administrative feasibility. Live recording, submission, and internal assessment will be under the in-house developed platform.

Eligibility: Applicant must hold a B.Tech./BE degree or AMIE qualification in any discipline or MCA or MSc/MS in CS/IT/Mathematics/Physics/Statistics or a 4-year undergraduate degree (Hons. or Hons. with Research) in relevant subjects, with at least 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination

The application fee is Rs. 500/-. For women and SC/ST candidates, it is Rs. 250/-.

The department will set cut-off criteria for shortlisting the candidates. Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a selection process. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the performance in the selection process and any other criteria deemed suitable by the admission committee.

The list of shortlisted candidates for the assessment process will be published on 29th November 2025. Assessment will be from 05th to 7th December 2025. The provisional list of selected candidates will be announced on 10th December 2025. The last date for fee payment is 23rd December 2025. Online document verification will be done on 29th & 30th December 2025. Orientation will be on 09th January 2026. Classes will also commence on 09th January 2026.

The course fee is Rs. 5,000/- per credit for the theory/lab courses and for the project work. The total fee for the courses is Rs.3,00,000/-.
