The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bengaluru, has opened applications for its Summer School for Women in Mathematics and Statistics.

The programme is aimed at women students currently in the first year of a B.A., B.Sc., B.E., B.Tech., or an equivalent degree, who are taking Mathematics as a major subject during the 2025–2026 academic year.

The two-week residential school will take place from 8 to 19 June 2026 at the Ramanujan Lecture Hall, ICTS Bengaluru. Participants are required to attend the entire duration of the programme. The school is designed to broaden students’ exposure to problem-solving skills in Mathematics and Statistics at the undergraduate level.

Topics covered will include Calculus, Functions, Fractal Construction via Contraction Maps, Linear Algebra, Conditional Probability and Markov Chains, and R Programming. Each subject will feature a short introductory lecture, followed by problem-solving sessions, in which students will collaborate on worksheets.

Daily schedules will also feature popular science lectures by distinguished researchers and professionals, covering a range of subjects beyond Mathematics and Statistics.

Evening sessions will include post-dinner problem-solving and discussions with the day’s speakers. Participants will also have the chance to interact with women scientists visiting the programme.

Selected participants will receive financial support, including sleeper-class train fare to and from ICTS (for non-Bengaluru residents), local boarding and meals, and a performance-based book stipend. Those travelling for three or more nights by train may also be eligible for partial airfare support.

Applications are open to women students across India and must be submitted online by 7 April 2026.

Full programme details and the application portal are available at ICTS SWMS 2026.
