The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is all set to begin the ICSE Class 10 board exams on February 18, 2025. The exams will run until March 27, 2025, with the first exam being English Language - Paper 1, starting at 11 am on Tuesday.

The examination will be conducted over a period of two hours. All candidates taking the exam are required to follow specific guidelines set by the council.

Important exam day instructions for candidates:

  • Reporting Time: Candidates must be seated in the examination hall at least 30 minutes before the exam begins.
  • Leaving the Hall: Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the exam ends.
  • Materials: If any additional materials, such as a map, are required for the exam, candidates should inform the supervising examiner immediately.
  • Reading Instructions: Candidates should carefully read any instructions on the first page of the question paper, including the number of questions to attempt.
  • Number of Questions: Candidates are advised to answer only the number of questions specified in the question paper.
  • Identification: Candidates must write their Unique ID (UID), Index Number, and the subject on the top-sheet of the answer booklet, as well as on the front cover of any continuation booklets, graph paper, or maps used.
  • Writing Material: All entries on the answer booklet should be made in black or blue ink only.
  • Signature: Candidates must sign the top-sheet of the main answer booklet in the space provided. Any scribbling on this sheet is prohibited.
  • Answer Booklet: Candidates should write on both sides of each sheet. They should leave a margin on both the left and right sides of the page and start each new part of the question on a separate line.
  • Question Numbering: Candidates must write the question number clearly on the left margin at the beginning of each answer. They should not copy the question and must use the same numbering system as the question paper.
  • Spacing: A line should be left after each answer.
  • Handwriting and Spelling: Neat handwriting and correct spelling will be considered during evaluation. Candidates can use black or blue ink pens for written answers and only pencils for diagrams.
  • Allowed Materials: Candidates may bring mathematical and drawing instruments, as well as colour pencils, for subjects that require them. However, electronic devices and calculators are strictly prohibited.
  • Reading Time: In addition to the allotted exam time, candidates will be given 15 minutes to read the question paper.
  • Focus: Candidates should carefully read the questions and avoid writing unnecessary information, as no marks will be awarded for irrelevant answer. They must not spend too much time on one or two questions.
  • Continuation Booklets: These will be provided only upon request once candidates have filled all pages of the current booklet.
  • Returning Booklets: Candidates should attach all continuation booklets, whether used or unused, to the main answer booklet.
  • Rough Work: Any rough work should be done in the answer booklet, rather than on separate sheets.
  • Answer Sheet Arrangement: After the exam, candidates must arrange their answer sheets in sequential order, ensuring that the first page is at the top. They should check that their UID, Index Number, and Subject are written on all parts of their answer sheets, including continuation booklets and any graph or map papers. The answer sheets should be fastened together at the top-left corner and submitted unfolded.

Following these instructions will help candidates navigate the ICSE Class 10 examinations smoothly and avoid any last-minute issues. Adhering to the guidelines ensures a fair and organised exam process, allowing students to focus entirely on their performance. Candidates are advised to stay calm, manage their time wisely, and carefully follow all exam-day protocols to maximise their results.
