Harvard University is set to offer executive education courses in Hyderabad from December 2026, according to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The initiative is part of the state’s wider plan to attract international universities and strengthen its education, research and skills ecosystem.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that Harvard University will begin offering executive education courses in Hyderabad from December 2026.

The announcement was made during a meeting with a delegation representing UK business schools and universities at the MCR Human Resource Development Institute in Hyderabad.

The proposed Harvard programmes are focused on executive education, which generally provides specialised learning and leadership development for working professionals and other experienced learners.

Telangana’s global education plans

The Harvard initiative is part of Telangana’s broader plan to develop the state as a “Global Knowledge Hub”.

Reddy said international educational institutions could create opportunities for collaboration between overseas universities, Indian institutions and industry.

He also said the Telangana government was prepared to support foreign universities and business schools that want to establish a presence in the state.

The meeting included representatives from around 30 UK universities, along with House of Lords member Karan Bilimoria, British Council representative Janaka Pushpanathan and Chartered Association of Business Schools CEO Flora Hamilton.

MIT and Purdue also in discussions

Harvard is not the only international institution being discussed.

Reddy said the state was holding discussions about possible offshore campuses involving institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Purdue University in Hyderabad.

Potential collaborations with Harvard, MIT, the University of London, Virginia Tech and Northeastern University are also being explored in areas including executive education, dual-degree programmes, faculty training and research.

These discussions are broader proposals and should not be treated as confirmation that all the institutions mentioned will establish campuses in Hyderabad.

Why December 2026 matters

The planned December start would give professionals in Hyderabad access to executive education programmes from a globally recognised university without necessarily travelling overseas for such courses.

The move also comes as Telangana seeks to expand international academic partnerships and connect higher education more closely with industry and research.

Reddy invited representatives of UK educational institutions to attend the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, scheduled for December.

The state is also developing the Young India Skills University in Bharat Future City as part of its efforts to build a larger education and skills ecosystem.

The government’s plans combine international academic partnerships with professional training, research and industry collaboration.

Reddy’s announcement follows his participation earlier this year in a six-day leadership programme at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
