Thiruvananthapuram: Even as the state government designated Saturdays as working days to address time shortages in schools, Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) has introduced ‘Education Week’ activities that further increase the workload of the teachers.

Starting Monday, programmes designed to enhance student well-being and community engagement in government schools will be introduced.

These programmes include a range of activities planned throughout the week: creating teaching materials on the first day, focusing on basic language and mathematical skills on the second day, holding sports events on the third, conducting fine arts activities on the fourth, promoting skill development on the fifth, running eco club activities on the sixth, and ensuring social participation and preparing nutritious meals on the final day.

It is recommended that parents and community members be involved in these activities. However, teachers are concerned about how numerous programmes will be managed without impacting regular class time.
