The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is set to release the GATE 2026 result today, March 19, on the official portal. Candidates who appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 will be able to check their results through the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

While the result date has been officially confirmed, the exact release time has not yet been announced. Candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the official website for the activation of the result link.

How to check the GATE 2026 result

To access the result, candidates need to log in to the GOAPS portal using their enrollment ID/email address and password.

Once logged in:

  1. Click on the GATE 2026 result link
  2. View your scorecard and qualifying status
  3. Download and save the result for future reference

The final answer key and question papers have already been released and are available on the portal.

GATE 2026 scorecard details

Candidates who qualify for the exam will be able to download their GATE 2026 scorecard from March 27 onwards. The scorecard will be available free of cost until May 31, 2026.

After this deadline, candidates can download it by paying a fee of ₹500 per test paper until December 31, 2026. No scorecards will be issued after January 1, 2027. The GATE 2026 score will remain valid for three years from the date of result declaration.

Cutoff and qualifying criteria

Along with the results, IIT Guwahati will release the qualifying cutoff marks for all 30 test papers. Candidates securing marks equal to or above the cutoff will be considered qualified.

However, qualifying GATE does not guarantee admission, scholarships, or job placement. Each institute and PSU has its own eligibility criteria and selection process.

What after GATE 2026 result

Qualified candidates can participate in the counselling process through COAP (for IIT admissions) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs).

GATE scores are widely used for admissions into MTech, MS, and PhD programmes, as well as for recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

GATE 2026 Marking Scheme

  1. GATE scores are computed out of 100 marks for 65 questions.
  2. 1 or 2 marks will be allocated for every correct answer.
  3. A negative marking of 1/3rd or 2/3rd mark for each incorrect response.
  4. There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers in NATs and MSQ questions.
