NBEMS invites applications for the FMGE December 2025 session on January 17, 2026. Check eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, test cities, fees, and application deadlines online.

National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi, has invited applications for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session to be conducted on January 17, 2026, on a Computer platform at various test centres across the country.
An Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing an MBBS Degree awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India (now the National Medical Commission) or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 has to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority (NBEMS now) for that purpose. However, those holding an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/ New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America, the holder has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country, if seeking provisional or permanent registration in India is not required to qualify the Screening Test.
Eligibility of candidates who have obtained their primary medical qualification from Pakistan will be subject to their security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt of India and other conditions.
Eligibility: Applicant should be a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India and should possess an MBBS degree, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognised qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated. The result of the final examination of MBBS should have been declared by 31.10.2025.
There are no restrictions on the number of attempts that a candidate can make to clear FMGE.
Examination: The computer-based examination will have one paper with 300 multiple-choice questions, in English language only, each carrying 1 mark, delivered in two parts (150 questions each) to be taken in a single day. Part I will be from 9 am to 11.30 am, and Part II from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Candidates are required to select the correct / best / most appropriate response/answer.
The question paper for each part will be divided into multiple time-bound sections. For example, if there are 3 bound sections, A, B & C in each part of the question paper, each such section will have 50 questions and 50 minutes of time allotted for the section. Candidates would not be able to proceed to the next section till the completion of the allotted time of the previous section. Candidates can mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review and can review such questions before the allotted time for that section ends. Candidates would not be allowed to review the questions/modify the responses of a section after the completion of the allotted time for that section. Questions of the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time of the previous section. The actual number of such time-restricted sections may vary based on the total number of questions in the question paper and operational feasibility in making such sections. There shall be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Test Cities: The tentative list of cities where the FMGE December 2025 session shall be conducted is given in the Information Bulletin. At the time of online submission of the application form, the candidate will be required to indicate his/her choices of four different test cities amongst the test cities offered where he/she would like to appear in FMGE. The candidate shall be allocated the test centre for FMGE in any one of these four test cities chosen by him/her using a random allocation process.
Application: Application can be submitted online at https://nbe.edu.in/, latest by 11.55 pm on 4th December 2025. Examination fee is Rs. 6195/- to be paid online.
Editing application: The Edit Window for all payment success applications will be open from 9.12.2025 to 11.12.2025. Any information/documents can be edited except Name, Nationality, Email, Mobile number and Test City. Final Edit Window to rectify Deficient/Incorrect Images- Photograph, Signatures, Thumb Impression- will be available from 29.12.2025 to 31.12.2025. Deficiencies related to documents uploaded in the application can be rectified by 11.55 pm, 2.1.2026. Information on the test city will be given by 2.1.2026.
The Admit Card will be issued on 14.1.2026. The result is expected to be declared by 17.2.2026. A candidate shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtain a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination.
