The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a detailed set of guidelines for conducting practical examinations for Class 10 and 12 candidates appearing in the Supplementary Examinations 2025.

These practical exams will be held between July 10 and July 15, and will apply to specific categories of students as outlined in their main exam results.

Who needs to appear for the CBSE practical exams?

Class 12 Students

Students placed under the “Repeat in Practical” (RP) category must appear for the practical exam only.

Their theory marks from the main board exams will remain unchanged and will be carried forward to their final result.

Class 10 Students

Those under the “Repeat in Theory and Practical Both” (RB) category must appear for both the theory and practical exams during the supplementary session.

If a student was marked absent for internal assessment in the main board exams, they will be awarded pro-rata internal marks based on their performance in the theory paper of the supplementary exam.

No new internal assessment will be conducted for such candidates.

Where will the practical exams be held?

The venue of the practical exams depends on the type of candidate:

Regular students: Practical exams will be conducted at their own schools, following standard CBSE procedures.

Private candidates: Practical exams will be conducted at the centres where they are scheduled to appear for their theory exams.

In case a theory exam centre does not have the facilities to conduct practical exams, the concerned CBSE Regional Office will assign an alternative venue.

Guidelines for practical exam marks submission

All marks awarded in practical exams must be uploaded to the CBSE portal on the same day the exam is conducted.

Once uploaded, marks will be treated as final.

No requests for changes or corrections in marks will be entertained by the Board.

Important instructions for students

  • Students must report to their schools or allotted centres by July 7.
  • It is mandatory to carry a printed copy of their result and admit card.
  • Schools will inform students of the exact date and time of their practical exams.
  • All students are expected to follow the schedule strictly.
