The Council of Architecture (CoA), with the approval of the Central Government, has amended Regulation 4(1) of the Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2020 and amended the eligibility for admission to the Bachelor of Architecture courses.

As per the amendment, for admission to the Bachelor of Architecture course, the applicant should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry, Biology, Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with at least 45% marks in aggregate or should have passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 45% marks in aggregate. 

Relaxation in percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination for admission shall be as per the reservation policy of Central Government or the respective State Governments. 

CoA has accordingly directed all stakeholders -students, parents, architectural institutions and concerned competent authorities to follow the revised eligibility criteria for admission to First Year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree courses from academic session 2024-25 onwards.

The Council of Architecture (CoA) is an independent statutory body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, established according to the Architects Act of 1972. This Act, enacted by the Parliament of India, aims to oversee the registration of architects, set standards for education and qualifications, and establish guidelines for professional conduct and ethics within the architectural profession. Since its inception on September 1st, 1972, the CoA has been responsible for maintaining a national register of architects and regulating both architectural education and the practice of architecture across India. To fulfill its mandate, the Government of India has formulated Rules, and the Council has devised Regulations under the Architects Act, all with the endorsement of the Government of India.
