CBSE to unveil revised curriculum for Classes 9–10 today; new framework emphasises skills, flexibility
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will unveil its revised curriculum for Classes 9 and 10 on Thursday at 3 PM, in a move aimed at modernising school education and aligning it with evolving academic priorities.
The updated framework is expected to introduce changes in subject content, teaching methodologies, and overall academic structure to enhance student learning outcomes.

Officials indicate that the revamped curriculum will focus on competency-based learning, critical thinking, and experiential education, core principles of the National Education Policy.
The shift is designed to reduce dependence on rote memorisation while promoting analytical and application-based learning in classrooms.
CBSE is also likely to issue a detailed circular alongside the announcement, outlining key changes, assessment patterns, and implementation timelines.
Schools, teachers, and students will be able to access the official document through CBSE’s academic website, ensuring clarity on the transition process.
Meanwhile, the board has already released the Secondary Curriculum: Part 2 for Classes 11 and 12 for the 2026–27 academic session.
The document lays out a structured scheme of studies, divided into Languages (Group L), Academic Electives (Group A), and subjects earmarked for internal assessment.
The senior secondary curriculum reflects a more flexible and interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to customise subject combinations based on their interests and future goals.
Greater emphasis has also been placed on internal assessments, signalling a shift towards continuous and comprehensive evaluation rather than relying solely on final examinations.
Students moving into Classes 11 and 12 can access the complete curriculum, including subject-wise syllabi and guidelines, on the official CBSE academic portal.
The board has made these resources readily available to support schools and learners during the transition.
With the Class 9 and 10 curriculum set to be announced, CBSE is nearing the completion of a significant curriculum overhaul, one that is expected to impact millions of students nationwide and redefine classroom learning in the years ahead.
