Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 13,000 teachers in Kerala have completed artificial intelligence (AI)-based training under the leadership of the Department of General Education and KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education). 

The training for  high school and higher secondary school teachers has been completed in the state. The next batch will start a three-day training programme at 140 centres across the state from May 23 to 27. 

The Training Management System allows higher secondary principals to conveniently register teachers from their respective schools at these training centres. By August 2024, the training of around 80,000 high school and higher secondary teachers would be completed. Following this, primary teachers will also be provided with training in the field of AI.

By January 2025, the government hopes that about two lakh teachers in the state will get  AI training in areas such as summarization, image generation, prompt engineering, presentation-animation creation and evaluation. 

This initiative seems to be a significant step towards integrating AI into the educational framework and enhancing the skills of teachers in Kerala.
