The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has published a brief notification for Level One pay scale posts in Indian Railways, formerly known as Group D posts. The detailed notification is expected to be released shortly, with online applications opening from 21 January.

There are 22,000 vacancies across various railway zones in the country. Eligibility for these posts is expected to remain the same as previous years, requiring candidates to have completed 10th standard, ITI, or a National Apprenticeship. A fixed quota is also available for candidates who have completed apprenticeships within the Railways.

In the 2024 notification, there were 32,438 vacancies, including 2,694 positions in the Southern Railway zone, headquartered in Chennai. Last year, vacancies were available in posts such as Assistant (Signal and Telecommunication/Workshop/Bridge/Carriage and Wagon/Locoshed), Pointsman, and Track Maintainer. A similar distribution of posts is expected in the current recruitment drive.

Applications must be submitted online through the official websites of the Railway Recruitment Boards, under notification number 09/2025. The last date to submit applications is 20 February.
