National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous research institution under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, Jatni, Khurda, Odisha – 752050, has invited applications from Indian nationals for one temporary position of Project Scientific Officer-B under the IOP-NISER Vigyan Pratibha Project, Odisha Chapter funded by DAE, Govt. of India. 

Job Description: The project aims at nurturing scientific and mathematics aptitude among school students of Class 8 - 12. The work requires strong academic competence, the ability to interact with teachers and students in schools (urban, rural, and tribal), and sensitivity toward the learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds in the country. The candidate is expected to assist in developing and standardizing innovative educational material through literature study, teacher-training workshops, school visits, cluster meets, and laboratory experimentation. The person is also expected to provide academic support to teachers via school visits and social media. 

The position is purely temporary for a period up to one year from the date of hiring or completion of the project, whichever is earlier and strictly co-terminus with the project.  Monthly salary is Rs. 77000/-.

Essential Qualification and Experience: Applicant should have a Master's Degree in Chemistry/ Life Sciences/ Physics/ Mathematics with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA with minimum one-year relevant experience. 

Desirable: Experience in teaching/ scientific writing/ development of educational activities; basic knowledge of standard word processing and data analysis software such as MS Office, etc.; good proficiency in English language and writing skills in English; ability to engage with learning needs of Indian students and also working with rigorous scientific content. Experience in material design, such as posters and banners, is desirable. The candidate should have proficiency in computer skills, documentation, and social media. The candidate should be able to work independently, should be willing to travel to even remote areas of the country and provide support to teachers and students in different capacities. Experience in the field of preparation of technical reports and material in print and web form. Previous experience with conducting training workshops/conferences is highly desirable. 

Age: 35 years as on last date of application. Age relaxation will be given to entitled categories as per Govt. of India rules.
