The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, Akkulam, Thiruvananthapuram-11, has invited online applications from Indian citizens for appointment to the posts of Project Scientist I and Project Associate II on a contract basis initially for a period of one year. 

There are 14 positions of Project Scientist I and 2 positions of Project Associate II.

The eligibility requirements of each of the 14 positions of Project Scientist I and each of the 2 position of Project Associate (essential/Desirable qualification, experience, etc.) are given in the Notification at https://www.ncess.gov.in/ (News and Events)

Degree requirements for the post of various Project Scientist I positions include a master’s degree in geology/earth science/seismology/geophysics/chemistry/analytical chemistry/geotechnical engineering/hydrology/water resources/climatology with specialization in hydrological modelling and hydro-climatology or related fields/marine geology/physical oceanography/marine sciences/atmospheric science/meteorology/physics/electronics or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology or equivalent in electronics/instrumentation/electrical & electronics/electronics & telecommunication from a recognized university/institute. Marks requirements, if any, in the qualifying examination are specified in the notification.

Degree requirements for the post of various Project Associate II positions include a master’s degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, physics, oceanography, ocean technology, or equivalent from a recognized university or institute. 

The age limit as of the last date of receipt of the online application will be 35 years. Age relaxation will be given for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government of India rules.

Remuneration will be as follows: Project Associate-II (i) Rs. 35,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests—CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions (ii) Rs. 28,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above. Project Scientist-I: Rs. 56,000/- plus HRA.

If the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large, NCESS may short list the candidates to a reasonable limit based on the essential and desirable qualifications/record of academic performance/relevant experience for the post or any other benchmarks as decided by a committee constituted to screen the applications. 

The shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test/interview as decided by NCESS.
