General Insurance Corporation of India, ‘Suraksha’, 170, J Tata Road, Churchgate, Mumbai, has invited applications from young, energetic graduate/postgraduate Indian citizens with brilliant academic records for selection as Actuarial Apprentices (life and non-life business).

The total number of vacancies is 20 (12 Actuarial Apprentices for Non-Life & 8 Actuarial Apprentices for Life). Reservations shall be applicable as per the government guidelines. The total number of vacancies, including the number of vacancies for reserved categories, may increase or decrease depending on the total number of vacancies at the final selection.

Eligibility as of 01-11-2025: Age: 21 years (completed) and not more than 27 years. Applicant should have been born not earlier than 01.11.1998 and not later than 01.11.2004, both days inclusive. Relaxation in age will be up to 3 years for OBCs and 5 years for SCs/STs. Age relaxation for PWD candidates is as per rules.

Qualification: Applicant should hold a graduation/postgraduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university with 60% or more marks in aggregate. SC/ST candidates will get 10% relaxation in marks. Applicant should have passed at least 2 actuarial subjects of the exam conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) or the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) UK.

Duration: Apprenticeship will be for a period of 2 years. The apprentice has to pass a total of 6 subjects by the end of 2 years. Further extension of 1 year (2 years in the case of SC/ST candidates) shall be granted if the apprentice passes 6 subjects by the end of 2 years of apprenticeship so as to complete a total of 7 subjects. Apprenticeship will be terminated on failure to pass a total of 6 subjects within two years.

Stipend and Other Benefits: The monthly stipend during the 1st year will be Rs. 40,000/-. It will be Rs. 45,000/- during the 2nd year.

Selection: Selection will be based on an interview/group discussion to be conducted online. All eligible candidates will be called for an interview/group discussion, and their selection will be based on their performance in the interview/group discussion. Final selection of candidates will be subject to medical examination. Posting of selected candidates will be at the Head Office of GIC.

Absorption as Assistant Manager (Scale I Officer): On absorption on a regular basis, as Assistant Manager (Scale I Officer) after passing a minimum of 7 actuarial subjects, the emoluments will be fixed in the Basic Pay of Rs. 50,925/- per month in the notified scale of pay and other admissible allowances like DA, HRA, CCA, etc. The total emoluments will be approximately Rs. 85,000/- p.m. plus other benefits as per rules and on confirmation of service in the Corporation. The officers are also entitled to corporation/leased accommodation as per norms. The present lease accommodation limit at Mumbai is Rs. 45,000/- per month, subject to terms and conditions.

The apprentice selected with 7 actuarial subjects or more number of actuarial subjects passed before joining or who has passed after joining the corporation has to compulsorily serve the corporation as an apprentice at least for 1 year before being absorbed as a Scale I officer on probation. All apprentices have to serve the corporation as an apprentice for a minimum of one year before being absorbed as a Scale I officer on probation. The apprentice absorbed as a Scale I officer will be treated as a fresh Direct Recruit Officer in Scale I on probation.
